Deliver a high-craft, architecturally expressive residence on a remote Hawaiian hillside while managing limited labor availability, logistical complexity, and the demands of a tropical climate.
A hybrid construction strategy centered on a pre-manufactured teak timber frame allowed critical fabrication to occur off-island, reducing on-site labor and schedule risk. The exposed timber structure defines both architecture and interior experience, providing warmth, scale, and clarity. Roof forms and deep overhangs are calibrated for solar control, ventilation, and heavy rainfall, while maintaining openness toward ocean views. Interior spaces are organized around a central volume that promotes airflow, daylight, and connection to the landscape. Durable finishes and high-performance glazing support long-term resilience.

The completed home sits lightly on its site, offering a refined yet practical response to climate, view, and place. A pre-manufactured teak timber frame anchors this hillside residence above the Pacific Ocean, demonstrating how high craft and architectural clarity can be achieved efficiently in a remote island context.
